Irma Lidia (Serrano) Amber, 80 of Abilene passed away at Hendrick Hospice Care Center on Monday December 23rd, 2019. She was surrounded by her daughter Lydia Long PhD., Lydia’s husband, Bob Bailey, beloved grandson Jim Grund and his father J.R. Grund.
Irma was born on August 20th, 1939 to Porfirio Braulio Serrano and Maria Guadalupe Saucedo Serrano. She spent most of her life in Dallas but moved to Abilene to be closer to family. Irma was a long-time employee of Dillard’s and retired from the store in Abilene.
Being involved in the community was very important to Irma. She served as President and was a lifetime member of the Abilene Garden Club, was active on the board of the Habitat for Humanity and was also involved with the “Old Town Neighborhood Association” as well as in fund raising for “Camp Barkley Dog Park”. Irma was an active member of South Side Baptist Church.
