Imogene "Jean" Moore

August 31, 1940 — July 22, 2023

The Lord called Imogene (Jean) Daw Moore home on Saturday July 22, 2023.

Jean was born August 31, 1940, to Oscar and Viola Daw in Brewton Alabama.

She married the love of her life RM. Moore (Jimmy) on January 27, 1956, in Big Spring, Texas.  They enjoyed 62 years of marriage while raising their family in Big Spring. Jean loved life and enjoyed her gardening, fishing and her grandchildren. She was an icon to many.

Jean drove a school bus for 41 years for Big Spring ISD.  She delivered her students safely to school, drove the Big Spring Steers Pride Drive band and in the earlier years, driving the Gold Diggers to the football games was a joy for her.  She loved her students.  She worked for Century 21 for several years as a real estate agent.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jimmy Moore, Parents Oscar, and Viola Daw. Brother, Les Daw, Sisters, Myrt Thorton, Barbara Ann Letz, Judy (Helen) Belyeu, granddaughters Hannah and Markee Allen and son of her heart Larry Don Stephens.

She is survived by sister Naomi Head, her daughters, Deborah and husband Dan Walton of Big Spring, Kathy and husband Bill Henry of Hawley TX, Penny Owensby and husband Marvin Powers of Abilene TX, and Tammy and husband Mark Allen of Blackwell TX.  Grandchildren, Kimi Jo Walker of Abilene TX, Shayla and Walter Moose of Stephenville TX, Zane Owensby of Abilene, TX, Clarrissa and Chance Moore of Weatherford TX, Bailee and Colton Davis, of Stamford TX and Hayley and Jose Vargas of Abilene TX.  Also four great grand babies and numerous nieces and nephews.

To carry Jean to her final resting place will be her grandsons, Zane Owensby, Walter Moose, Chance Moore, Colton Davis, Jose Vargas and Huntur Allen.

Family visitation will be at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street in Abilene on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be at the Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Road in Abilene, on Thursday July 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.  A private family memorial at the Edward Brother Ranch in Big Spring, TX will be at a later date.
