Georgia Marie Bowerman

It is with great sadness that the family of Georgia Bowerman, announce her passing at the age of 75 years. Georgia was a long-time resident of Abilene, TX, and died Thursday, December 14 at 3:26 a.m. at The Oaks at Radford Hills Nursing Facility, where she had only lived since September.

Born on June 20, 1943 in Rotan, Texas. She married Ray Bowerman in 1965 and blended their two small families to make one big family. She loved family and was an excellent cook, (she had to be to keep seven kids fed). She loved Bingo, casino gamble and watching the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.

After raising seven children she went back to school and received her Vocational Nursing license in 1978. She worked as a nurse for 40 years at various locations including the Skilled Nursing In-patient Facility unit at Hendricks Medical Center and Serenity House where she eventually served as Director of Nurses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Helen Patterson, her husband, Ray Bowerman, her brother, Patrick Patterson, her grandson, Jasen Wells, and her granddaughter Kaley Bowerman along with great grandchild Judah.

She is survived by her seven children, Dennis (and Lynn Bowerman), Donald Mitchell, Ava and (Don Preston), Gayla and (Don Herrington), Karrie and (Johnny Brush), Buddy “Joe” Bowerman, and Patrick Bowerman; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of the life of Georgia Bowerman will be held at Piersall Funeral home, 733 Butternut Street, Abilene, TX  79602 on Saturday morning, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Paul R. Matta officiating.  Visitation will be held in the same location on Friday night, December 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
