Gayle Aldean Fagan

December 6, 1933 — June 1, 2021

Gayle Aldean Fagan, 87 of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.  Funeral service will be on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel, 733 Butternut Street with internment to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.  A time of visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gayle was born in Comanche, Texas on December 6, 1933, to James and Gertrude Fagan.  Gayle began his career at Abilene Christian College in 1951 as a student worker where he met and married Lyla Bronniman in January 1956.  He was then sent to Ford Ord, CA and then to Germany where he served three years in the US Army, accompanied by Lyla.  Upon their return to Abilene, they raised a family and Gayle continued his career with Abilene Christian until his retirement in 1982.  During this time, Gayle was a deacon at Minter Lane Church of Christ and later a member at Highland Church of Christ.  While working for the City of Abilene, and after the death of Lyla in 1985, he met Ramona Cole in 1986 on a blind date.  They were married in 1992 and enjoyed square dancing, playing 42, traveling and spending time with family.

Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lyla Fagan, brother Otis Fagan and sister Martha Walker.  He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ramona Fagan of Abilene, daughters Neita Gaylene Allen and husband John of Abilene and Brenda Olson of Amarillo; step-son Danny Cole and wife Virginia of Abilene; grandchildren Joshua Fagan, Kimberly Smith and Samantha Olson; step-grandchildren Rusty Truelock, Tonya Chesser and Tasha Peterson; and 10 great-grandchildren.
