Franklin Delano Embry, 91 of Abilene, passed away at his assisted living facility on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. A service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Frank was born on March 6, 1933, in Rogersville, Alabama to Chester and Minnie Embry née Wallace. He graduated from Lauderdale High School in Rogersville and received his B.A. from North Texas University and his M.S. from Abilene Christian College. Frank taught at Mann Middle School in Abilene from the day it opened until he retired. He opened the first driving school in Abilene, teaching drivers’ education and defensive driving until his second retirement. Frank met his wife, Pat McNabb, in Odessa after 4 years in the Navy. They were married on June 23, 1956 and were together for 64 years until Pat’s death in 2020. They moved from Odessa to Denton for her master’s degree and his undergraduate degree, then moved to Abilene in 1962. Preceding Frank in death are his wife Pat; his parents; brothers O’Neal Embry, Dallas Embry and Jimmie Embry; and sisters Grace Cramer and Annette Reeves. He is survived by son Jayscott and husband Daniel; daughter Dana Rodriguez and husband Omar; three grandsons Antonio, Ryan, and Niko Rodriguez, and many nieces and nephews.
