Fenton Theo Cox, 86, of Abilene, passed into God’s loving arms on Sunday, November 19, 2017 after a brief stay at Hendrick Hospice Care. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Second Baptist Church, 901 Victoria Street. Arrangements are under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Fenton was born May 31, 1931 in Columbus, Kansas. He attended high school in Harrisonville, MO. Fenton served as a Sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1949-1953 as a Division clerk and math instructor. He married Geraldine Ayres, February 2, 1952 in Elvira, NY. In 1956, they made their home in Texas where he made a career in life insurance with Lincoln Life and Farm Bureau Insurance companies.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, his parents, Hazel and Theo Cox, a brother, Wayne Cox and a sister, Judy Cox, and a daughter-in-law, Elisa Cox.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Thomas Cox, of Corpus Christi and Catherine Rollins and husband Jerry, of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Trey (Kristin) Rollins, Greenville, SC, Aaron (Shirley) Cox, Corpus Christi, TX, Tanner (Shelby) Rollins, Nashville, TN, Brian (Andrea) Cox, Monterrey, CA, Rachel (Adam) Thurman, Corpus Christi, TX and Katelyn (Jonathan) Hamby, Nashville, TN; step-granddaughter, Misty (Scott) Kawecki, Plano, TX; seven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Cox of Stamford, TX and brother Marvin Cox of Verni, NV.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Children’s Department at the Second Baptist Church at 901 Victoria Street, Abilene, TX 79603 or Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
