Esther M. Redman

September 23, 1932 — May 30, 2022

Esther Marian Redman, 89 of Abilene, passed away on Monday, May 30th, 2022, at Hendrick Hospice Care Center.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 10th at 10:00 am at Elmwood West United Methodist Church, 1302 S. Pioneer Dr. with Ryan Strebeck officiating.  Inurnment with military honors will be held at Elmwood Cemetery following the memorial service.  Arrangements are being handled by Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.

Esther Redman was born in Warwick, Massachusetts on September 23, 1932, to William and Marian Copeland.  She was raised in Warwick and after finishing school she joined the Air Force.  While stationed in Waco, TX she met her husband Earl Redman Sr., who was also in the Air Force at the time. After their time in the Air Force, they settled in Abilene where they raised their four sons.  Esther worked for the AISD in food service at Travis Elementary where one of her main responsibilities was cooking the rolls.

Esther was an active member of the Elmwood West United Methodist Church.  She loved helping with many of the ministries of the church including serving regularly as a Sunday school teacher, working the church garage sale, and preparing food for the fair booth.

Surviving Esther are her sister Rachel and husband Rodger of Warwick, MA; sons; Dennis and wife Leslie of Dallas, Mike and wife Pam of Abilene and Tony and wife Kathy of Abilene, grandchildren; Chris, Bryan, Mandy, Matt and Jennifer, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren as well as many extended family members and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, a son, Earl Redman, Jr, daughter-in-law Becky Redman; and siblings Fannie, William, Glenn, Emma, Harold, and Freddie.
