Elizabeth Nell Lambert Taylor

July 18, 1921 — August 28, 2017

Elizabeth Nell Lambert Taylor, 96 of Abilene, passed away on August 28, 2017 at Winters Healthcare Residence. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 2 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery at 10:00 am. The service is under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Abilene, Texas.

Nell was born to Dee C. Lambert and Ila Wilson Carter in Lueders, Texas on July 18, 1921 and grew up in Abilene where she moved in 1925 at the age of four. She met and married the love of her life Hewitt Hudspith (Turk) Taylor on December 8, 1941 right after he was discharged from the service. They moved to Long Beach, CA for a couple of years where Turk worked in the shipyard and that’s where they began their family with the birth of their son Spencer. The family returned to Abilene for a brief period and then moved to Albuquerque, NM where their daughter Cindy was born. In 1950 the family moved back to Abilene which is where they lived from that point forward. Nell and her family were charter members of the Woodlawn Church of Christ where they attended and served for many years. Nell was a job master for Timex for 21 years and one of the last six employees of the Abilene plant before they closed. She was also a member of the Ladies Letter Carriers Auxiliary. After retirement, she loved to travel to various parts of the United States, first with Turk, then cherished friends, then with her daughter and friends Jimmy and Cheryl. She had a wonderful blessed life.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband Turk, her parents, a sister Hope and two brothers Don and Bob. She is survived by a son Spencer Taylor of Abilene and a daughter Cindy Brown and husband Albert of Winters. She was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren; Teena Gunter and husband Allen of Oklahoma City, Shae Taylor of Nashville, Taylor Brown and wife Cortney of Granbury and four amazing great-grandchildren; Joshua and Caleb Taylor and Presley and Easton Brown, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and her many friends.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Nell to Woodlawn Church of Christ, 922 Woodlawn Dr. Abilene, 79603. Condolences can be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
