Edward Allen Pierson, 89 of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, October 24,2023 at the Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring. Funeral service will be on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hillcrest Church of Christ, 650 E. Ambler, with a visitation with the family starting at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Edward was born on February 22, 1934, in Brady, Texas to Oren and Johnnie Pierson. After high school, Edward entered into the service with the U.S. Air Force in support of the Korean War. He served in San Antonio and San Bernadino, California and received training as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. This training led to his career as a Lab Tech for 26 years at the Veterans Hospital in Big Spring. On August 16, 1958, Edward married Jean Brown and the couple resided in Big Spring, then Georgetown, Colorado, before moving to Abilene in 2000. Edward and Jean were members at the Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers O.J., Jimmy and Clinton Pierson, sisters Hazel Snider and Gloria Tucker, daughter Debbie Pedersen, grandson Cody Wiley and nephews Ronnie Tucker and Ricky Huffman. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Pierson; grandson Jonathen Pedersen and brother Daniel Pierson.
