Eddie De Vries

Eddie de Vries, 77 of Abilene, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 1, 2023, with his loving wife Mary, by his side.  Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Eddie was born on March 23, 1946 in Franeker, The Netherlands to Henry and Barbara de Boer de Vries.  He attended Cooper High School in Abilene and served 2 years in the Army before getting his accounting degree at McMurry University.  He also owned and operated de Vries Bookkeeping and Tax Service in Abilene for 30 years.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing with his cats.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Richard Flores and Donnie Flores, and daughter Terry Larez.  He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 22 years; daughters April Evans and Lisa de Vries; sons Jeff Flores and Conrad Larez; sister Klaasje Moffatt; brothers Nick de Vries and Johann de Vries; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
