Dudley Eugene Farr, 87, of Abilene, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s and cancer.
Dudley was born to Cullen and Florence Farr on June 16, 1936, in Mountain City, Texas. After Dudley graduated from Brackettville High School in 1954, he went on to study civil engineering at Southwestern University and The University of Texas.
In 1955, Dudley met and fell in love with Shirley Hausenfluck at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Dudley and Shirley married in 1956 and were blessed with two wonderful children, Gaye Lynn and Gary Wayne. Their marriage of 67 years was a testimony to enduring, sacrificial, devoted love - a godly heritage to their family, and an example to all who knew them.
Dudley started his first job at the City of Austin, beginning a 40+ year career in water and wastewater utilities. He worked as a hydrologist for the Texas Water Quality Board for 27 years and was Superintendent of Utility Operations at Texas A&M University.
In 2000, Dudley retired and spent his time buying, trading, dickering, and collecting. He enjoyed finding treasures for family and had a keen eye for good deals. He loved all kinds of music, especially gospel and classic country. Dudley was a man of Faith, a passionate and devoted servant of the Lord, and he loved being with family and worshiping together.
Dudley was predeceased by his parents, Cullen and Florence Farr. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter, Gaye Lynn and husband Randy Williams, and son, Gary Farr; grandchildren, Justin and wife Hope Williams, Kristen and husband Brandon Pierce, Cara and husband Brenton Dowdy; 8 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alexis, Josiah, Reyma, Avelyn, Jubilee, Melody, and one on the way; sister, Beverly and husband Ray Davis, and by numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
