Brian Douglas (Doug) Phariss, of Abilene, Texas, 60, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Hendrick’s Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Doug was born in the same hospital on August 13, 1961. After moving around with his family, and graduating from Littlefield High School, he eventually made it back to his hometown where he met and married the love of his life, Tyshane Waters, on October 27, 2002, Doug and Tyshane raised their children in Abilene, where he was happy to live the rest of his life.
Doug attended Abilene Christian University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1983. He later worked for Banyan International for 33 years, where he retired as Plant Supervisor in December of 2016. He was a lifelong learner and an expert on all sorts of trivia. In addition to Doug’s encyclopedic knowledge of books, movies, and music, he was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. Doug’s close friends and family also knew Doug was a good singer and an excellent dancer. Doug loved his family and was a proud supporter of all his children’s endeavors. Doug was a member of the Hamby Church of Christ.
Doug is preceded in death by his father, Doc Wells Phariss, Jr. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tyshane; his two children, Blaine and Hailee Phariss; his mother, Peggy Phariss; his brothers: Stacy Phariss, Randy Phariss and wife Regina; and Cory Phariss and wife Tasha; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM, at the Hamby Church of Christ in Hamby, Texas, with Jon Schwiethale officiating. A separate graveside service for interment of his ashes will be held at Tuscola Cemetery in Tuscola, Texas following the service. Arrangements under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
