Dorothy Lee Murray Townsend

Dorothy Lee Murray Townsend, 84, passed away at a care center in Richland Hills, Texas on Sunday August 27th, 2017.  A visitation will be held Tuesday evening August 29, 2017 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.  A service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at 11 ^th and Willis St Church of Christ with a graveside to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Dorothy was born in Italy, Texas on December 24, 1932 to Joseph and Mary Murray. She moved with her family to Abilene at the age of twelve and attended school at North Junior High and Abilene High School. In 1952, she was introduced by a friend to John Townsend and they were married on June 26, 1953. Together they raised their two daughters in Abilene and were faithful members of 11 ^th and Willis Church of Christ. Through the years Dorothy worked with U.S. Time Corp and Aileen’s Inc., but her favorite job was that of Homemaker.

Surviving Dorothy are her two daughters Susan Townsend and Terrye Johnson, her grandchildren; Rebecca, Russell and Christina, a great-grandson, Liam and a brother Arthur Lewis Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and three brothers; Cecil, Leland and Joseph Murray. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and all that knew her.
