Doris Ann Taylor Harrell, 88 of Abilene, went to be with her Lord and Savior at Hendrick Medical Center on Tuesday January 23, 2018. A service will be held at 10:00 am in the chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors with a burial to follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Haskell County. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Doris was born in McCamey, Texas on January 15, 1930 to Clarence Newton and Ruth Melton Taylor. She grew up in Haskell, Texas where she graduated from Haskell High School. In 1954 she moved to Abilene, Texas where she was a clerk for National Life for 29 years. Doris had a number of hobbies including sewing, (she was a member of the Abilene Sewing Guild) playing canasta, cards and many other games. Through her years in Abilene, Doris attended Crescent Heights Baptist Church and most recently Bethel Temple.
Surviving Doris is her brother Bill M. Taylor of Weslaco, her son David Paul Harrell and wife Sherrie of Midland, her daughter Belinda Harrell Bellomy and husband Douglas of Garland, grandsons; Brandon Hall and wife Stephanie of Magnolia, Jonathon Bellomy of Garland, and Taylor Harrell of Wimberly, granddaughters; Kristin Castillo and husband Rick of Austin, and Melanie Batten and husband Joshua of Midland, as well as seven great grandchildren; Haley, William, Brooklyn, and Daphanie Hall, Bobby and Brenna Castillo and Estrella Batten and one great, great grandchild Janelle Hall. Preceding Doris in death were her parents.
