Don Leon Hagar departed this earthly life on November 13, 2018, in Alvarado, Texas. A service will be held in the Chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St., Friday, November 16 at 2:00 pm. A graveside service with military honors with follow at the Ft. Phantom Hill cemetery. A visitation with the family will be Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Don was born on November 26, 1936 at his home in Jones County, Texas to H.B. Vestal and Lillie Lou Moore Vestal. At the age of three Don’s mother married Frank Hagar who Don acknowledged as his “Daddy”. He grew up in Abilene and completed 11th grade before entering the Army. He had many different careers until going to work for Anthony Pools in Arlington, Texas. He later purchased the business and changed the name to Advanced Pool Service. Don loved to hunt and play forty-two with family. Later in life he spent much of his time at the American Legion playing shuffleboard. He was an avid bowler and competed in “bowling for dollars”.
Don is survived by his daughter LaDonna Hudgens (Tray), of Alvarado, Tx, granddaughter Kristina Conley, grandson Justin Conley and wife Amanda of Burleson and great-grandson Jaxson Don Conley. He is also survived by two daughters; Pam Arendall and Cindy Elliot, a son Michael Hagar, sisters; Jean Baker, Deanna Slater, and Gloria Richardson brothers; Ronnie Hagar and Billy Hagar, half-brother Benny Vestal, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lilly Hagar and his biological father H.B. Vestal. Don will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
