David was born in Amherst, Texas on February 18, 1950 to James Henry & Vera Idella Stanley.  He was the baby of 12 siblings.  David left school at an early age to work the cotton fields to help the family.  As a young teenager, he began to lay brick with his older brother, Raymond.  Later, he moved to automotive, running a wrecking yard in Grand Prairie, Texas for 25 years.  After this, he worked for Park Place Lexus in Grapevine and Plano, Texas as a Parts Specialist.  He was very proficient with parts and numbers in his job, where he ended his career.

David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a faithful and active member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ for the last 4 years.  Previously, he worshipped at Woodland West Church of Christ and Saturn Road Church of Christ.  As Uncle Doodle, he is best known by his family and friends to always lend a helping hand, whether asked or not.  He was a true servant to others.  He and Janet worked as volunteers at Hearts and Hands in Arlington, Texas.  He enjoyed gathering groceries for the needy.  One of the greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren and his two fur babies, Cotton and Snickers.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet Stanley, children, Greg McNeece and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Terry and Missy Bevill of Oak Harbor, Washington, Steve Stanley of Winfield, Texas, Sam Holt and wife Mandy of Abilene, Texas and grandchildren, Jackson, Amber, Jacob, Madison Grace, Lacey, Zach, Paisley, Emily, Garrett, and Peyton, siblings, Olie Ray & Jan Stanley, and Joan  Shaw and many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by siblings, Clinton Houston, J.L., Mary, Walter, LeeRoy, Eugene, Faye, J.D., and Raymond.
