Christina Anne Thomlinson, 59, of Abilene, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.
“Chris” was born on August 15,1963 in Atlanta, Georgia to Renee and Bursell Coultas. Chris grew up in New Jersey and lived in many places including Monterey, California; El Paso and San Antonio Texas; and Hobbs, New Mexico where she raised her four children before finally settling in Abilene, Texas.
Chris graduated from College of The Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico while raising three kids and working full time at a residential treatment center for disadvantaged youth. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice before moving to Abilene in 2006 with her son. From there she began a rewarding career as a case manager with Child Protective Services.
It was in Abilene that Chris found her love for First Baptist Church of Abilene and began long lasting friendships. Chris enjoyed volunteering with Big A Club and she held a special place in her heart for her bible study group, even when her health prohibited her from going regularly.
Chris was an avid reader, a cinema buff, a true crime addict, and a loving Grandma to her three grandchildren. Chris was also known for having a great, albeit sometimes dark, sense of humor to her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Abigail Renee Elizabeth Thomlinson.
She is survived by her son Michael, daughter Emily (Trey) and two granddaughters Kenley and Kennedy, daughter Jessica and grandson Morrison, sister Gretchen (Athan) nephew Athan Jr. and niece Olympa, and her parents Renee and Bursell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 25 th at 1:30 pm in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 1333 North 3 rd St in Abilene. Arrangements were handled by Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.
