Chester Melvin Lynd

Chester Melvin Lynd, a beloved father, grandfather, and Air Force veteran, passed away on April 5, 2024, at Hendrick Hospice Care Center in Abilene, TX. Born in Battle Creek, MI on February 11, 1945, Chester will be dearly missed by his daughters Lori Gutierrez and Veronica Qualley and sons Coby and Curtis Lynd. A visitation will be held at Westgate Church of Christ on April 12, 2024, at 10:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30 am. Chester will be laid to rest at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene on April 12, 2024, at 1:00 pm, where his service to the Air Force will be honored. Chester served in the Air Force from July 12, 1963, until his honorable discharge on June 29, 1967, achieving the rank of Airman 1st Class. His commitment to his country and his family will always be remembered and cherished. May he rest in peace. Chester is survived by two sons; Coby Lynd and Curtis Lynd and wife Alicia, two daughters; Lori Gutierrez and Veronica Qualley, two grandchildren that he and his wife Linda raised; Billy Joe Lynd and Arieal Lynd and six grandchildren; Kaleigh and Darrien Gutierrez, Richard Ford, Sheri Lynd and Kylan and Trista as well as several other extended family members and close friends.
