Chuck Meyer, 80, of Abilene, passed away on Sunday August 20, 2017. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Southern Hills Church of Christ with burial to follow at the Round Mound Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, August, 22, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Chuck was born on September 5, 1936 to Gilbert Wilhelm Heinrich Meyer and Gladys Christian Meyer. He grew up on a ranch outside of Kit Carson, Colorado. Chuck attended Abilene Christian University where he met the love of his life Marisue. Chuck worked in the insurance industry for years and owned his own insurance agency. Later he was a storm adjuster and traveled all over the US.
Much of his life was working for the Lord. He taught Bible classes, served as a deacon and then as an elder in the church. He was always patient and kind and an example too young people. He coached Little League, served on the Board of Medina Children’s Home, and served on several boards, committees and will always be remembered as the Dad who drove the bus.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Cathy Foreman. He is survived his wife Marisue whom he married 59 years ago, a son Gib Meyer and daughter Cyd Meyer-Miller (John Miller), brothers John Meyer (JoAnn), Duane Meyer (Susie) and a sister Nancy Smith. His life was blessed with three precious grandchildren, Meredith Meyer, Marcie Meyer and Meyer Lincoln Miller. Chuck was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends.
