Obituary:
Camilla Deane (Greer) Becton born November 13, 1945, passed to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the age of 77.
Camilla was born in Nashville, Tennessee, the only child of John and Madge Greer. She lived in and attended schools in East Nashville until attending and graduating from David Lipscomb High School in 1963, and David Lipscomb College in 1967. During high school, she met and began dating Randy Becton. They married on August 22, 1966, at the Chapel of Roses in Nashville, and began a 50 year marriage.
In 1968, they decided to move to Abilene to attend graduate school at ACU. Camilla taught at the Woodson early education center and held various secretarial positions, while also raising 4 children.
She taught a ladies bible class for many years and wrote the curriculum for many of those studies. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels while her children were young, and then later in life. She and Randy traveled and spoke to people across the country who were learning to cope with the cancer journey and with grief. In 1987, Camilla began a new work with the food pantry at Highland church, which she continued for 25+ years. She loved to serve the people she met there.
At an early age, Camilla devoted her life to God, and learning to serve Him. She loved to host friends and family, and to share with others. She loved to tell others about her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Camilla was preceded in death by her parents, John and Madge Greer, son Mark in 2011, and husband Randy in 2016.
She is survived by her children, Stacia Looney and husband Adam of Allen, daughter-in-law Natasha Becton of Houston, Shana Cox and husband Wendell of Rockwall, and Shara Wilson of Frisco.
She loved her role as “Bammy” to her grandchildren, Jenna Looney and Jonathan Looney of Allen, Maya Becton, Preston Becton, and Garrett Becton of Houston, Jackson Cox, Johnny Cox, and Annie Cox of Rockwall, Breylin Becton of Dallas, Byrron Wilson, Jr. and Ashlen Wilson of Frisco.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to each of the Excellent Caregivers and Hospice Nurses who cared for our Mother from Kindred at Home in Abilene.
