Master Sgt. Billy Joe English, Usaf (Ret.)

Master Sgt Billy Joe English, USAF (Ret.) age 80 of Abilene, passed away at his home on November 30, 2021.

Billy was born in Tishomingo, OK to James English and Jewel Jackson English. Billy married Lois Mae Hammons on December 21, 1957 in Clarendon, Texas.  They would have spent 64 years together this year.  After enlisting in the US Air Force in 1958, Billy spent 21 years serving his country.  He retired in 1979 as a Master Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by Lois Mae English, his parents, brothers, Jimmie and Donald English, sisters, Juanita Massingale and Dorothy Watkins, daughter Sherry Lynn English and grandson Shawn English.

He is survived by his daughters Pamela Lyle and husband Gary of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Mary Chesser and husband Lance of Eula, Texas, Darlene Loomis and husband Rick of Abilene and Tammy Young and husband Raymond of Abilene; brother Doyce English and wife Florence and sister Faye Williamson and husband Fred, as well as 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren plus one more that is to be born next month.

A visitation will be held Monday evening December 6th from 5-7 pm at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.  A service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am with a graveside service following at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery.
