Beverly Carter

February 28, 1954 — November 19, 2024

Beverly Hobbs Carter of Abilene peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. At the age of 70, after a long fought battle with cancer.

Beverly was born on February 28, 1954, in Abilene, TX to Cecil Hobbs and Dolle Rosser Hobbs. Beverly grew up in Roswell, NM and Midland, TX and graduated from Midland High School in 1972. Beverly attended Hardin-Simmons University where she met and married Garland Carter of Abilene, Texas on January 3, 1976.

They had three children and resided in Abilene, Texas throughout their almost 49 years of marriage. Beverly had the gift of hospitality and of being intentional with the people who were around her. She enjoyed spending time studying her Bible and trusted the Lord with her life. She embraced the importance of loving others and finding ways of using her gifts to serve and help others. She was a loving wife, mother, teacher cook and most importantly to her, servant of Christ.

Throughout her journey with cancer Beverly was like a light shining in the darkness. She encountered people experiencing the fear and hopelessness that cancer can bring. She brought her faith with her and encouraged others that there's a God in Heaven who created them, sees them, knows them, and wants to be the peace of their life. She would want anyone reading this to know that no matter what life brings you-- all is well! Jesus paid the price for us to have access to God and eternity with Him once we leave this life on Earth. Her family is peacefully resting in the fact that she is back with her Creator, made whole, and no longer experiencing the pain of this world.

We are grateful for the time, dedication, and impact she had on our lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Dolle Hobbs, and her older brother, Randy Hobbs. She is survived by her loving husband, Garland, of Abilene; their oldest daughter, Allison & Ryan Everett and their children Caden, Carter, Lyla & Corby of San Antonio, TX; their son, Tim & Cassie Carter and their children Lambert & Deacon of Georgetown, TX; their youngest daughter Meredith & Chris Lancaster and their children Shepherd, Hooper & Banks of Waco, TX; her brother John & Hailey Hobbs of Kingsland, TX; her sister Celia & Ricky Cox of Midland, TX.
