Bette Harris

December 16, 1927 — August 1, 2018

Bette Jean Joyce Harris was born in Snyder, Texas on December 16, 1927 to Ixon and Ellen Pratt Joyce. She graduated from Snyder High in 1945, then started college at Texas Women’s College in Denton, majoring in art. She transferred to Abilene Christian College (now ACU) in 1946, where she met her soul mate, Noble “Spike” Harris. Bette and Noble married June 30, 1947. They were happily married for 69 years, until Noble’s passing in 2016. They had two children, son Paul, and daughter Camille. Bette was a devoted and loving mother, who extended her love to everyone around her. Camille’s daughter, Joy, was Bette and Noble’s only grandchild and because of that Joy had a very special bond with them.

Bette was a homemaker while her children were young. Later she worked in Noble’s real estate office where she found out she had an affinity for business. Bette was a strong Christian, living her faith by always helping others, either locally, sponsoring missionaries through her church or abroad sponsoring children at Elim Children’s Home in India. She was always ready to help anyone in need.

Bette is survived by her children Paul and Camille and a grandchild Joy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Noble.
