Mrs. Bernice Kathleen Free Pinson, age 88, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at home in Comanche, Texas, surrounded by family. Bernice was born in Tatum, Texas on April 17, 1931 to John and Zelma Free and grew up in Lancaster, Texas. She was the fourth of nine children. Bernice married Oles Pinson on November 21, 1951 in Dallas. They shared a strong desire to share God's word wherever they lived, including Frankston, Texas; Guatemala, Mexico, Montana, and Honduras. She was a faithful preacher's wife and missionary. She was also an elementary school teacher, earning her Bachelor's degree only after her children had gone to college. Most importantly, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved singing, reading, and was a wonderful cook. She always made time for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters (Helen & Freeda), 3 brothers (Horace, Kenneth & Boyce), her son, Van, her grandson Tyler, and one great-grandson, Nolan. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Oles; daughter Bernita (& Kyle Sheets) of Tuscola, sons Keith (& Teresa) of Cookeville, TN, Foy (& Kay) of Abilene, Paul (& Shelley) of Roanoke, TX. Bernice is also survived by 2 sisters (Floy & Betty) and one brother (Johnie), and 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family plans a private burial. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 pm at Highland Church of Christ, Room 207.
