Avenell Holloway

Avenell Holloway, a beloved wife, mother, Nana, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at the age of 87.

There will be a time of visitation with the family on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel with Bob Shipley officiating.  Burial to follow at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.

Born on January 21, 1936, in the close-knit town of Oplin, Texas, to Herbert and Amilee Moore, Avenell's life was defined by her unwavering and selfless devotion to her family.  She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and was a true christian example; leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A devoted wife, Avenell shared 64 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Leo. Together, they created a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and being a loving Nana to her 6 grandchildren.

Avenell was preceded in death by her parents, brother J.H. Moore and sisters Velmarie Dean and Trudy Welch.  She is survived by her husband, Leo, daughters Glenda Moore and husband Michael; Karla Warren and husband Johnny;  Susan Bryan and husband Larry; her grandchildren Maggie Marquez and husband Alexis; Molly Moore, Lacey Warren, Allison Allen and husband Daylan; Abbey Bryan; Tyler Bryan and wife Jennifer as well as one great granddaughter Millicent Bryan; a brother Ben Moore and a host of extended family and loving friends.

The family would like to thank caregivers Tiffany, Deborah and Olivia for their love and tireless efforts in taking such good care of mom.

Pall bearers are Tyler Bryan, Michael Welch, Pete Wheeler, Daylan Allen, Alexis Marquez and Josh Bostian.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Avenell's honor to the Buffalo Gap Fire Department 709 Litel St, Buffalo Gap, TX 79508.
