Archie Dale Scarbrough was born on December 31, 1934 in Anton, Texas and passed into the arms of his Lord on September 14, 2023 where he was being cared for at Northern Oaks in Abilene.
Archie graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1953, and soon after began his studies at the Amarillo Bible Training Work. He became an Ordained Minister in 1959. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Margaret Joy Scarbrough who preceded him in death on October 13, 2019. In 1969, he moved his family to Abilene, Texas where he began preaching at the Sewell Street Church of Christ.
One of his greatest joys was performing Gospel music with the Loraine Quartet. They performed at churches and Gospel concerts throughout the states of Texas and New Mexico, and recorded two albums.
Later in life, Archie became Involved in prison ministry and served as a chaplain for the State of Texas primarily at the Middleton and Roberson units in Abilene. He retired from this position on his 80th birthday.
Archie is survived by his son, Michael Scarbrough of Abilene, daughter Ava Yvonne Anderson of Abilene, and son David Scarbrough of Fort Worth, five grandchildren Cassy, Morgan, Emily. Micheal, and Becca.
