Angela Elaine Sweeney

January 29, 1989 — December 13, 2023

Angela Elaine Sweeney, Angie, went home to her Heavenly Father on December 13, 2023.  A service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at 11:30 am at the First Baptist Church in Baird, Texas with Pastor Daiqing Yuan presiding.  A graveside service will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in May, Texas

She was born on January 29th, 1989 to David and Sue Sweeney. She was born with severe cerebral palsy. She was confined to a wheelchair and was limited in the ability to verbalize. However, Angie was a source of light and joy. She was loud laughter and joy personified. She had her own ways of communicating and loved being the center of attention. She so enjoyed social interaction and made friends easily. People were drawn to and inspired by her. She had a way of bringing people together. Her circle of friends were vast and they were a blessing to those who loved her.

Angie loved life! She was adventurous, courageous, and a spirited girl. She enjoyed traveling, swimming and being outdoors in the countryside. Angie appreciated and loved music especially Christian praise music, classical music, and country music. Listening to music thrilled her heart. She attended virtually all of the Abilene Philharmonic performances for many years.

She was all girl, with a passion for pretty white dresses, jewelry, and purses. She was content to shop for just the right thing with her mom. She loved shopping with Momma. Angie had a great sense of humor. There was nothing more joyful than the sound of her laughter. She loved good times with family and friends. She especially loved holiday meals with her brother, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her happiness was spectacular with her arms and legs flailing, and wild sounds of glee.

Her earlier years were the most enjoyable to her as her physical problems had not taken such a toll on her. She attended Baird public schools and was elected Prom-Queen of 2008. She was so honored and it was a special thing to her, and we are thankful for it. Angie was a Christian and we are at peace that she is with our Savior, Jesus Christ. She is not in pain any longer.

Angie was a joy to many and a witness to others as a Christian girl in spite of her handicapped circumstances. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.

Angie is survived by her father and mother, David and Sue Sweeney along with her brother James Sweeney and wife Elizabeth, sister Lea Craig and husband Corey, niece Amelia Beadle, niece Collins Craig and nephew Cannon Craig. Also, many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and too many friends to name. She was a blessing.
