Amelia G. Rodriguez

Amelia G. Rodriguez, age 82, passed away peacefully on the 13th of December 2024 at her home while surrounded by lots of family.

She was born July 24th, 1942 in Edcouch, Texas to Francisco and Manuela Garcia.  Along with brothers and sisters Juan Garcia, Maria de Jesus Garza and Josefa Hernandez.   Amelia went to school in La Villa, Texas.  On November 28th , 1957 she was married to Ruben Q. Rodriguez in Levelland Texas.

Left to cherish her memory are Ann Jimenez (Johnny Jimenez), Ruben Rodriguez (Anissa Rodriguez), Esmerelda Rodriguez, Dora Bergan (Lonnie Bergan), Sherry Rodriguez (Michelle Baker-Rodriguez), Lupe Salazar (Maxine Salazar), 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Preceding Amelia in death were Ruben Q. Rodriguez, Juan and Debbie Rodriguez, Alexica Barrera and Ophelia Garcia.

Amelia spent many years working for RW McDonnell and was an active member of Saint Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church on Westview in Abilene TX.

Pallbearers will be Omar Rodriguez, Marcus Rodriguez, Ramiro “Ban” Arrazola, Isaac Rodriguez, Austin Baker-Rodriguez and Estevan Makeo Herrera and honorary pallbearer will be Jesse Barrera IV. The family would like to give special thanks to Hendrick Hospice Care: Jason, Callie, Carol and most of all Amelia’s Caregiver, Marie Leleo.

A visitation will be held on Monday evening the 16th from 6-7pm with a Rosary beginning at 7pm at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday the 17th at 1:00pm at St. Vincent Catholic Church with Father Emilio Sosa officiating.  Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery.
