Amanda Michelle Mathis-Haynes, 32 of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. A visitation will be on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. Funeral service will be on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, with burial to follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Amanda was born on September 10, 1992 to Mary Jane Cano and Tracy Mathis in Amarillo, Texas. Amanda was a bright light to all those who knew her. She was a proud graduate of Childress High School, where her passion for learning was evident early on. She continued her education at McMurry University and then North Texas University and earned her degree in biochemistry.

Amanda had an insatiable love for reading, which fueled her curiosity and enriched her understanding of the world. She was a devoted mother who cherished every moment with her children. Her family was her world, and she poured her boundless love and big heart into every relationship, touching the lives of those around her in profound ways.

Her sudden departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts. Amanda will be remembered for her warmth, intelligence, and the unwavering love she gave to her family and friends.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, children, family, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Amanda is survived by her husband, Daniel Haynes, Sr.; daughter, A'lanni Haynes; son, August Haynes; stepson, Daniel Haynes, Jr.; stepdaughter, Tayla Haynes. Her mother, Mary Jane Cano; sister, Cheryl Cano; brother, Mitchell Mathis; brother, Donovan Mathis; brother Traven Mathis; and sister Erica Ehie, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Tracy Mathis.

In this time of grief, we find solace in the beautiful memories and the enduring impact Amanda had on everyone she met.
