Alejandro "Alex" Garza

Alejandro Garza Junior, “Alex” 60, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018. A family and friend visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Piersall Funeral Home, 733 Butternut in Abilene, Texas.

Alex was born on February 10, 1958 in Walla Walla, Washington to Alejandro Sr. and Wanda Garza. His family relocated to Abilene, Texas during his childhood where he grew up and graduated from Abilene High School.

Alex was a self-taught mechanic who worked in the field for over 40 years, both self-employed and at the Recycling Center on Dyess Air Force Base.

Alex is preceded in death by his father, Alejandro Sr. and one granddaughter, Jaela. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Garza; sisters - Alice Garza, Toni Cross and Sylvia Robbins; and brothers - Aaron Garza, Darren Garza, Roy Garza, Richard Diaz, Lupe Diaz and Danny Diaz.

Alex is also survived by his partner of 22 years, Tammy Garrard; three sons – Michael Lopez, Alejandro Garza III and his wife Stephanie, and Aaron James Garrard; and his four daughters – Cynthia Garza and her husband Rusty, Teresa Rue and her husband Thomas, Stacey DelaGarza and her husband Anthony, and Susan Garrard.

Along with his mother, siblings and children, Alex was also survived by 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and was recently blessed with the news of a 3 ^rd great-grandchild who will be joining the family in 2019.

Those closest to Alex know how caring of a person he truly was. If there was something he could do to help, he was certainly going to do it. He was well-known and respected at the automotive stores and salvage yards in, and around, Abilene. Alex was the epitome of a loving father. He set the bar high for what a father, grandfather and great grandfather should be, and words cannot describe how deeply he will be missed.
