Rudy De Leon, a beloved father and pillar of the Abilene community, was born on August 4, 1946, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Brijido De Leon Sr. and Juanita De Leon. He passed away August 29, 2024, at the age of 78, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
A master cobbler and entrepreneur, Rudy proudly owned and operated "Rudy's No-De-Lay Shoe Shop," which was named Business of the Year in the 1970s.
Rudy's infectious laughter, love for family, and passion for music will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his two sons, Adolfo "Rudy" De Leon Jr. (Margie) and Leon De Leon; his sisters, Beatrice Leal and Betty De Leon and his brother Joe De Leon. Rudy is also survived by loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his former wife, Alicia "Lecha" Alvarez and his sister, Janie Trevino and brothers, John De Leon and Brijido De Leon Jr.
Rudy's impact on Abilene will be remembered for generations to come. His dedication to his craft, his business, and his community inspired countless individuals. While he may be gone, his memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
There will be a visitation with his family and friends on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
