Lillian F. Crain, 90 of Abilene, passed away at a local nursing center on Friday, September 10, 2010. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, September 13, 2010 at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation with the family will held Sunday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.

Born to Henry Harrison Mitchell and Myrtle Brewer Mitchell on May 3rd, 1920 in Alma, AR, Lillian spent her early years in rural Arkansas. She graduated from high school and went on to complete Beauty college. Lillian married Hubert Crain November 2, 1942 in Bentonville, AR and they spent 61 years together. After many years of moving for her husband’s career, they settled in Abilene for retirement. During retirement they enjoyed numerous outings with Good Sam High Rollers Travel Club. She was a member of University Church of Christ for 30 years.

Surviving Lillian are her daughter Mary Sue Owens and husband Foy of Abilene, TX, son Jim Crain and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, OK, a sister Juanita Smith of Abilene, four grandchildren; Ron Owens and wife Cary of Abilene, Rene’ Owens of Abilene, Ben Crain and wife Rachel of Friendswood, TX and Kristin Cumbie and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, OK and four great-grandchildren; Krista and Kayla Owens, Colton and Hudson Cumbie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two half sisters, and one granddaughter.

The family requests that donations be made in honor of Mrs. Crain to Team Windcrest Memory Walk Team, 6050 Hospital Dr., Abilene 79606 or Memorial Road Church of Christ Preschool Department, 2221 E.
