L. D. Lovelace

L.D. Lovelace, Jr., 63 of Abilene, passed away at his home on Wednesday June 16, 2010. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday June 21st at the Piersall Chapel under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation is scheduled for 5-7 pm Saturday June 19th at the funeral home.

L.D. Lovelace, Jr. was born to Leonard Delton and Mae Dell Canon Lovelace on October 9, 1946 in Abilene, Texas. He grew up in Abilene and graduated from Cooper High School. L.D. served his country overseas in the Air Force during the Vietnam War being stationed in Bitburg, Germany from 1967-1970.

After his discharge L.D. began a life-long career in the flooring business. He worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth area but ultimately returned back home to Abilene where he spent the last 30 years working for various flooring companies in management and sales. He retired last year from Glosson's Carpet.

Surviving L.D. are his two sons; Paul Lovelace and his wife Teri of Abilene and Todd Lovelace of Salt Lake City, UT, a daughter; Tiffney Murphree and her husband Bradey of Amarillo, five grandchildren; Matt, Julia, and Mary Lovelace, and Adilyn and Chloe Murphree. In addition, L.D. is survived by two brothers; Jim Lovelace and wife Andie, and Alan Lovelace and wife Suzanne as well as a host of extended family members and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents.
