Maria J. Loya, 80, of Abilene passed away May 20, 2010 in an Abilene Medical Center. A service is scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday May 25th, 2010 with a burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation will be held from 6-7 pm on Monday at the funeral home with a time of remembrance to follow from 7-8 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Loya was born July 17, 1929 in Abilene, Texas to Avelino Juarez and Manuela
Gonzales Juarez. Maria attended the Americanization School on N. 7th and Magnolia St. (now Treadaway) Maria married Jose Loya October 15, 1949 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. She lived all of her life in Abilene and was a homemaker and mother. Maria was passionate about her family and was always available to her girls anytime, anyplace.
Surviving Maria are her husband Jose, two daughters; Josie Permenter and husband Michael of San Diego, California, and Mary Ann Aguilar and husband Robert of Arlington, Texas, four granddaughters; Rita Marple and husband Jeremy, Julie Engebretson and husband Alex, Kristen Aguilar and Linda Permenter as well as four great-grandchildren; Ella Marple, Bryson Aguilar, Nathan Marple and Braylon Aguilar. She is also survived by three sisters Victoria Quesada, Dominga Rosales, and Carmen Gomez all of Abilene. Maria was preceded in death by her parents and five other family members, Aurora Daniel, Marcelino Juarez, Eva Mendoza, Andrea Ramirez, Constancio Juarez.
