John L. Weaver

John L. Weaver, Jr., 84 of Abilene, passed away Friday February 26, 2010. A service is scheduled for 10:00 am Monday March 1st, 2010 at Baker Heights Church of Christ with a graveside to follow at 1:00 pm at the Abilene State Veteran Cemetery under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 3-5 pm at the funeral home.

John was born to John L. Weaver and Nancy Carter Weaver in Dalton, Georgia on May 11, 1925. He grew up in Georgia but came to Abilene and attended Abilene Christian College for three years where he learned to be an accountant. John spent time in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was proud to have been able to serve his country.

There were many things that John enjoyed in life but his favorite hobby was woodworking and crafts which he and his wife Aileene took to craft fairs. In work, John used his skills in accounting to benefit Christian efforts such as Hearld of Truth which he retired from in 1985. John was a long time member of Baker Heights Church of Christ where he served faithfully for many years.

Preceding John in death were his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Aileene Weaver of Abilene, daughter Sharron Jensen and husband Bill of Edmond, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Will, Ben, and Sam Jensen as well as many extended family members and close friends.
