Jick was born in Abilene, Texas to Landon Hill and Maxine McCaleb Hill.  He graduated from Temple High School in 1969 and from Abilene Christian University in 1973.  During his freshman year of college, he met Judie Yates and their 48 year adventure together began.  They married in 1974 and then moved to Irving, Texas while Jick attended Baylor College of Dentistry.  Upon graduation, he served in the Air Force at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona.  Their first daughter, Jendi Lyn, was born in 1978 while they were stationed there.  The family then moved to Midland, Texas where Jick opened his private dental practice.  In 1979, their second daughter, Jacy Leigh, was born.  Jick practiced dentistry in Midland for eight years.  He made a mid-life career change and entered South Texas College of Law in 1989, moving his family to the Houston area.  In 2009, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning land in west Texas and moved he and Judie to Tuscola.  He practiced law for 25 years until his death.

Some of Jick’s fondest memories were growing up with the Devil’s River gang, participating in athletics, his Sub T club, and all of his lifelong ACU friends.  His hobbies and passions included golf, the History channel, dreaming of new business ventures, sharing and teaching on his backyard gun range, and his favorite meal of beef stroganoff and strawberry pie.  He adored and doted on all of his beloved grandchildren, and greatly enjoyed watching and hearing updates on all their sports and activities.  His favorite times were the special visits with his three grandsons and three granddaughters.

Jick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judie Yates Hill of Tuscola, his daughter Jendi Haug and Chad Haug of New Braunfels and their children Hunter, Braelyn, Grayson and Hope Maxine, and Jacy Hooten and Matt Hooten of Fort Worth and their children, Jakson and Blakely.  He is also survived by his four siblings- Judy Hill Avera and Don Avera of Houston, Jill Hill Giesecke and Marion Giesecke of Kerrville, Jana Hill Rizzuto and Rick Rizzuto of Houston, and Jeff Hill of Houston and his in-laws, Harold and Elke Yates of Haslet and Don and Joan Foster of San Angelo as well as all of his many nieces and nephews.
