Raymond Ezell Hall, Jr.

October 10, 1925 — January 4, 2017

Raymond E. Hall, Jr., 91, of Abilene, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday January 4, 2017.   A service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday January 14, 2017 in the Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel, 733 Butternut St. A visitation with the family will be held Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene.

Raymond was born October 10, 1925 in Gainesville, Texas to Raymond E. and Vera Braumbaugh Hall. He was raised in Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High School. “Proud to be an American” – Raymond enlisted into the Navy at 17 during WWII and served from 1942-1946. Professionally, Raymond started Hall Sign Co. in 1962, later he opened NEON by Ray, ultimately retiring at 80 years old. In June 2006, he started a part-time business OLDTIMER’S NEON-ART, which he did until May of 2016.

Raymond served as a Deacon at Central Church of Christ and later was an active member of Woodlawn Church of Christ. He had a servant’s heart and was a friend to all.

Preceding Raymond in death were his father, mother, three sisters; Juanita, Koleta and Bobbye and two wives; Hortense and Mildred. He is survived by his wife Carol E. (Bennett) Hall, son, Danny R. Hall, a “Daughter of Heart”, Jeannie Hall, two grandchildren, Christina and Stephanie and three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodlawn Church of Christ, the Taylor Jones Humane Society or the donors charity of choice. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
