William F. "Bill" Nash

William Frasier Nash, 75, died Monday morning in hospice care at Hendrick Hospital.

Services will be at Highland Church of Christ with Kirk Nash, Steve Hare and David Wray presiding on Saturday, August 1st at 1:00 PM, directed by Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Bill Nash was born in Highland Park, Michigan to Walter and Beatrice Nash.

Bill was the special needs and benevolence minister at Highland Church of Christ for many years. He also portrayed Santa Claus in the Abilene Christmas Parade since 1991. Since moving to Abilene in 1972 Bill was a servant to the Abilene Community. A few of the numerous honors Bill Nash received were: The Pride of Abilene Award, The Golden Deeds Award and the The Servant Heart Award for Community Ministries.

Bill was instrumental in starting many ministries including Winter Wonderland, Moms Meals, and Wheelchair Ministry and also taught the 12 step program both here and abroad. He also worked diligently with the EMMAUS community.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his wife Audrey and son Shawn.

Survivors include daughters Shelly Jones (and husband Bill), Kelly Nash, Michele Nash and Debbie Rhodes (and husband Darrel); sons Kirk Nash, Kent Nash, and Dennis Perkins (and wife Lynn), Grandchildren; Ian Lash, Michael Lash, Nicholas Lash, Carole Olsen, Jacquelyn Nash, Daniel Nash, Katie Nash, Brendon Perkins, Jennifer Perkins, Nolan Nash, and Mason Nash. Bill is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and special friend Carla McDonald.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Highland Church of Christ at 425 Highland Avenue, Abilene, TX 79602 to help Bill’s family with some Bill’s final expenses or to the following ministries that Bill participated in; Congregational Care Ministry, Mom’s Meals, or Christian Ministries of Abilene.
