L.B. Lowry

L.B. Lowry passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Hendricks Hospital
in Abilene, Texas. A service has been scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday July 30th, 2009 at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 6-7:30 pm at the funeral home.

L. B. was born in Paducah, TX on May 7, 1926 to Lem B. and Dona Hall Lowry. L. B. was a faithful member of the Highland Church of Christ for 60 years. He served on the original board of Christian Homes for two years and helped in getting it established. He and his wife kept the first infant to be placed by Christian Homes. He attended Abilene Christian College from 1946-48. He started Lowry’s Trim Shop in 1947 while still in school. He was the sole owner of Lowry’s Trim Shop for 62 years. He was
a former member of the Toast Masters Club.

L.B. is survived by his wife, Denise, three children, Brenda Cherise French and husband John of Garland, TX, Dr. David Neil Lowry of Edmond, OK, Kathy Susan Box and husband Gordon of Albuquerque, N.M., five grand-children, Cody West Campbell, Jesse Leigh Orr and husband Rob of Albuquerque, N.M., Brent Bishop Lowry and David Ross Lowry of Washington D.C., and Ryan Shane French of Garland, TX. and Edmond, OK. He is also survived by one brother, Neil and wife Clydelle of Santa Fe, N.M. as well as a friend and employee, Robert McGough. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Clyde and MaryBelle Cummings, and brother and sister-in-law J.W. and Kathrine Elrod.

Memorials may be made to Christian Homes of Abilene, to the Smithville Church of Christ (benefiting Northern N.M. Churches of Christ), or donor’s choice.
