Marilee Jordan passed away at her home in Abilene on Monday, July 13, 2009. A service is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Piersall Chapel, 733 Butternut St., with Derrick Bam officiating. The burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Veteran State Cemetery of Abilene. There will be a visitation held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Marilee was born to Irl Irvin Faver and Ruth Scott Faver on October 29, 1921, in rural Nolan County near Sweetwater. She was reared in that area and attended Abilene Christian College, graduating in 1943. On September 23, 1944, she married John Randolph Jordan, III, and they enjoyed nearly 65 years together. Marilee loved to play Bridge with her Barracuda Bridge Group, but her true love was tennis. For a brief time while her daughters were in school, she taught Physical Education for the girls at Abilene Christian High School. The Jordans were long-time members of University Church of Christ.
Marilee will be lovingly remembered by her husband, her two daughters, Vicki Shepard and Jan Hailey and her husband Mel; a brother Don Faver and his wife Joyce; a sister-in-law Peggy Faver; and three grandchildren: Jennifer Kristin Nichols, Robert Mark Hailey, and Michelle Leigh Shepard, as well as a host of extended family and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Faver.
