Jean Herttenberger, 88, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 21, 2016 in the Southern Hills Church of Christ auditorium with a graveside to follow at 2:30 PM in the Rule City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Jean was born in Olton, Texas on May 4, 1928 to O.O. and Ruth Baker. She graduated from Rule High School in 1945. Jean married her high school sweetheart and life-long love of 71 years, Don Herttenberger on March 24, 1945. She devoted her life to creating a loving home for her husband and three children, Don Jr., Phyllis and Marsha. In later life, she loved to spend time with Don, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The most important things in her life were Jesus, her church and her family. She was a faithful member of Southern Hills Church of Christ for over 50 years where she loved to attend and worship. Her dedication and love will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Left to cherish Jean’s memory are her husband, Don; a son, Don Herttenberger Jr. and wife Verna; daughter Phyllis Herttenberger; daughter Marsha Ridgell and husband Steve. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Lori Simmons, Ryan Herttenberger, Jarrod Herttenberger, Karin Radar (Mike), Julie Gilbreth (Bobby) and Joe Don Ridgell (Jamie) and thirteen great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pat Barbero.
