Mary Louise Yopp, 72 of Abilene, passed away in her home on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13, 2106 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street in Abilene. Another memorial service will be held in Berlin, New Hampshire at a later date.

Mary was born on May 7, 1944 in Berlin, New Hampshire to Norman and Avis Oleson. Mary spent over 30 years working for the 7th Service Squadron for the U.S. Military. She started working part-time as a bartender at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts and went on to serve at six other bases. She served two tours in Incirlik, Turkey, was stationed in Guam and received commendation for her work during Desert Storm. Her last duty station was at Dyess Air Force Base. Mary was an accounting technician in the accounting office. She loved country music, once met Charlie Daniels, and also loved listening to Keith Whitley. She enjoyed watching “General Hospital” and her favorite movie, “Footloose.” She was a wonderful dancer, a free spirit and she greatly loved her family, her children and grandchildren. Mary will be missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Avis Oleson, and her 4 brothers, Bill Bowden, Robert Bowden, Bob Oleson and Phillip (Botsie) Oleson and sister Jane Perry. She is survived by her sons Rick Pageau of Pepperell, Massachusetts; Allen Pageau and wife Belinda of Buffalo, Minnesota and James Yopp and wife Kristen of Abilene, Texas; daughter Tina Pageau of Gorham, New Hampshire; sister Theo Sykes and husband Larry of Burlington, North Carolina; and 6 grandchildren; Jennifer and Kayla Correau, Tyler, Derek and Hailey Pageau and Ricky Yopp.
