Doris Marie Newton

Doris Marie Newton, 55 of Abilene, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 4, 2016. She was born February 22, 1961 in Abilene, Texas to Betty and Alton Newton. She was a devout Christian and committed to her family. She loved animals, especially her cat Stormy.

Preceding Doris in death were her parents, Alton and Betty Newton, brother Galen Dale Newton, sister Rebecca Jan Bradshaw, daughter Crystal Marie Billings, niece Gay Lynn Newton, nephew Zach Frazier and niece Baby Girl Newton. She is survived by a son Nathan Coggin, daughters Elizabeth McMillien and husband Scott and Mandi Forster and husband James, grandchildren Sabrina, Joey and Dalton McMillien, Jaden and Matthew Forster and Collin and Ash Coggin, sister Sharon Chick and husband Steve and an aunt, Marie Brown, as well as many other extended family and close friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday August 11, 2016 at Baker Heights Church of Christ with a time of visitation held prior to the service at 10:00 am. Local arrangements are being handled by Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Baker Heights Church of Christ, 5382 Texas Ave, Abilene, TX 79605.
