Phillip Heath Gililland passed away on July 11, 2016. He was born on March 16, 1948 in Harlingen, Texas to Rama and Robert Gililland. He attended Abilene Christian School and Abilene Christian University where he met his wife of 45 years, Karen Sue Gililland. He and Sue had two sons, Michael and David.
Mr. Gililland was an entrepreneur who was best known for his time in real estate. Through his years of work with rental properties, he touched countless lives through treating people as friends who deserved respect.
Phil’s life was most marked by the way he loved his family and friends. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was affectionately known as “Ya-Ya” by his four grandchildren.
Mr. Gililland was a faithful member of the Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene of which he was a member for 32 years.
Phillip Heath Gililland is survived by his wife, Sue Gililland of Abilene; two sons Michael Gililland and wife Karen of Abilene, David Gililland of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Lindsey and Corban Gililland of Abilene, Keely and Kinlie Gililland of Fort Worth; three nieces, Tammy Marcelain and husband Rob, Becky Kingsbury and husband Dallas, Tiffany Gililland; two nephews, Robert Alton Gililland III and wife Cari, William Gililland and wife Jenni.
He is predeceased by his parents, Rama and Robert Gililland, and his brother, Bobby Gililland.
Memorial services will be held in the Chapel at the Southern Hills Church of Christ, Saturday July 16 at 10:00 a.m.
