Jack Wittie, 81 of Abilene, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Caps Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Jack was born in Big Springs, Texas on September 26, 1934 to Edger and Lula Mae Wittie. Jack loved to fish and he worked in the oil field as a truck driver for over 50 years. Jack had a big heart and would do most anything for anyone. He was also there to lend a helping hand. Jack loved his kids and his grandchildren and he loved talking to his best friend, his beloved dog, Meathead. Jack was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him well.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Edger and Lula Mae Wittie; his wife, Norma Wittie; brothers, Bill, Ed, Joe and Wayne Wittie and sisters-in-law Betty Wittie and Zina Wittie. He is survived by sons Jody Wittie and wife Diane of Abilene, and David Wittie and wife Katherine of College Station; daughter Trudee Logan and husband Gene of Coldwater, Mississippi and the mother of Jack's children, Betty Brown of Bryan, Texas; step-sons Larry and John Eppard and step-daughter Linola Eppard; sisters-in-law Jean Wittie and Kathy Wittie; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
