An avid runner for over 30 years, Ronald Daniel finished his final race on April 6, 2016 in Abilene, Texas at home. There will be a celebration of his life at 10:00 am Saturday April 9, 2016 at the Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel, 733 Butternut Street Abilene, Texas with a private family burial to follow in the Necessity Cemetery in Stephens County.
Ron was born to Fred James Daniel and Iva Bernice Moore Daniel on June 2, 1938 in Vernon, Texas. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1956 where he played football for the Breckenridge Buckaroos. He married Barbara Casey on June 2, 1956, his 18th birthday. Ron retired as a vice president for Capital Industrial Supply in Portland, Oregon in June of 2000. He and Barbara returned to Texas in 2001 and have been active members of South 11th and Willis Church of Christ and frequent visitors of Rose Park Senior Center, where Ron liked to exercise.
Surviving Ron is his wife Barbara C. Daniel, daughters; Elizabeth Phan of Sacramento, California, Suzanne Daniel, of Abilene, Ronda Lowe & Kirk of Colleyville, sons, Mark A. Daniel & Lisa, of Cross Plains, Matthew J. Daniel, & Tatiana, of Keller, brothers, David Daniel & Lynda, of Houston, Tim Daniel & Stacey of Iowa Park, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Steven Dwight Daniel.
The family wishes to offer their thanks to the Hospice people for their loving care to Ron over the last few months. Donations may be made in honor of Ron to Sam’s Place at www.willismissions.org.
