Patricia Mae "Patti" King, 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 25, 2009 after a Bold and Valiant fight against breast cancer. A funeral service will be held 3:00pm, Monday, April 27, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow at Hawley Cemetery under the direction of Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00-6:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Patti was born April 14, 1946 in Odessa, TX, the daughter of the late Robert Barr and Margaurette Perry. On July 24, 1965 she married Harry E. King, Jr. in Odessa. Patti was a Licenced Vocational Nurse and a volunteer EMT, working in the medical field for nearly 30 years. She had worked as a radiologist for many years in different doctors offices and hospitals. Her desire as a nurse was to improve the quality of life for those who didn't have the ability to take care of themselves.
She was always there for her friends and family. Much of her free time was spent in her church home, Calvary Baptist Church, playing the organ and teaching classes. Patti's focus in life was to serve others either in her work, her church or her daily walk.
Patti is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years Harry King, Jr. of Hawley, sons Rodney "Rok" King and wife Naomi of Lubbock, Steve King and wife Julie of Haskell, mother Margaurette Nunley of Brownwood, brother Robert "Bob" Barr and wife Melody of Hawley, sisters; Barbara Martin and husband Cleo of Brownwood, and Robbie Rogers and husband E.V. of Odessa, grandkids Stephen "Doug" King of Merkel, Brandon Williamson of Abilene, Kristina Williamson of Merkel, Nathan Sanderson of Haskell, Kaylee King of Abilene, Taylor Sanderson of Haskell, Randy Williamson of Merkel and soon to be born Rebekah Olivia King of Lubbock, other extended family members and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Barr and Step-father Perry Nunley.
