Charlotte Ruth Turnbow

November 8, 1948 — September 21, 2015

Charlotte Ruth Turnbow, 66 of Abilene, passed away at her home on Monday, September 21, 2015. A graveside service will be held at the Hamby Cemetery on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. A visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Charlotte was born on November 8, 1948 in Abilene to Gene and Billie Ruth Brisendine. A life-long resident and a graduate of Abilene High School, Charlotte loved to call Abilene home. On April 7, 1972, Charlotte married Gary Turnbow and started their life, and their family, together. Charlotte loved being a mother to her children, and later, passed that love along to her grandchildren. She considered them to be the light of her life.

Charlotte worked as a secretary for the Texas Department of Human Services for over 30 years, but it was her service to the Lord that she considered her most important work. She served Him faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, a pianist and a vocalist at church. Most of all, she was a soul winner. Charlotte continued her service to God until her health failed her.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Billie Ruth Brisendine, her grandparents, Bob and Bernice Ayers and a son, Tommy Turnbow. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gary Turnbow of Abilene, daughters Christy Rivera of Abilene, Molly Turnbow of Tye and Ginger Griffin of Baird; and grandchildren Forrest, Lanna and Tyler Griffin of Baird; Ashley, Bradley, Travis Rivera of Abilene and Katy Teague of Tye.
