Leonardo Guajardo, Sr.

Leonardo Guajardo, Sr., 72 of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Hendrick Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Leon was born on November 6, 1942 in Cuero, Texas to Reyes and Magelina Guajardo. In 1959, Leon and his family moved to Abilene, and in 1962, Leon married Sally Arellano. Leon was a jack-of-all-trades. He worked as a butcher, a carpenter; a cashier at Harrah’s Casino in Arizona and he co-owned Leon Motors Used Cars with his father-in-law for over 20 years.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Reyes and Magelina Guajardo and son, Leon Guajardo, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sally Guajardo of Abilene, sons Raymond Guajardo and longtime girlfriend Patsy of Abilene and Gabriel Guajardo of Arlington, Texas; daughters Diane Montague and husband Donnell of Abilene, Susan Deluna and husband Thomas of Abilene and Monica Guajardo of Abilene; brother Jesse Guajardo and wife Lupe of Dumas, Texas; a very special sister-in-law, Roslie Guajardo of Stamford, Texas; and 23 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
