Sonya Bonita “Bonnie” Curiel, 30 of Abilene, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Wednesday, February 11th, 2009.
Bonnie was born in Coleman, TX October 9, 1978 to Frank and Ileana Curiel. She attended Anson Jones Elementary, Mann Middle School and graduated from Abilene High in 1997.
Bonnie was such a special person who touched the hearts of many. She set such an example as a Christian. She loved to sing, and was always smiling. She devoted her life to her family. While she had no biological children, she was a second mother to her many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Mario Jimenez, and paternal grandmother Amparo Curiel; and her honorary grandmother Sara Torres
She is survived by her mother Ileana M. Curiel of Abilene, and father Frank E. Curiel, of Garland TX. One brother Frank M. Curiel, and three Sisters, Amparo Curiel, Andrea Curiel , and her twin Alicia B. Curiel, all of Abilene. Also her “children” Christian Curiel, Rey Curiel, Miraya Curiel, Gabriel Curiel, Sonya Bonita Alexander, Marialena Alexander, Robert Alexander, Isaiah Mirelez, Uriah Mirelez, Josiah Rodriguez, Iah M. Newman and Terrell Turner II, “Benjie”
She is also survived by three nieces, Ashley Gonzalez, Mercedes Curiel, Chandi Curiel, and two great nephews, one great niece, as well as her maternal grandmother Gloria Jimenez of Corpus Christi, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a visitation with the family on Sunday, February 15, 3:00—5:00 at the Piersall Benton Funeral Home 733 Butternut Street. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 16, at 2:00 pm in the Piersall Benton Chapel.
